Trail Riding Union of Finland was found in year 2004 by trail riding entrepreneurs. The idea of the union was to increase co-operation between the enterprises. Members of the union develope the products and services together and market their products for example in fairs and exhibitions.

Stables offering trail riding can apply for membership of Trail Riding Union. Also natural person can become a member of the Union. Many stables have Icelandic horses, but also other breeds such as Finnish horses, Curly horses, Norwegian Fjord horses, Estonian horses, Camarque horses etc. are found.

Horsetourism today

Horsetourism is an unique product carried out in the nature. More and more people are creaving for experiences outdoors. No longer horses and riding is a hobby only for children. Adults and especially men have found this relaxing way to enjoy Finnish wilderness with horses.

The superior features in this activity compared to riding schools is the social side. People can chat while riding side by side, have fun and get to know each other during tours for example in saunas, dinners and evening sessions. Many find long lasting friendships from fellow riders.

Except riding many stables offer other services too. For example foodservices, accommodation, horsedriving, sauna and other functional services.

Most of the stables offer versitale riding experiences. You can choose from a short one hour riding trip to several days trek in the forests. When taking part on trail riding it is important that you tell about your riding skills in advance. That way you will find a suitable riding group and the trip on horseback will be pleasant for everyone.
